Church Evidence books, being the archive materials of great importance represents the primary source. The collection is formed from 509 Evidence books of Baptized, Married and Dead and side registers of 43 religious organizations from the territory of Belgrade. Most of the books resulted from catholicwork of Orthodox Churches, the oldest one originate from Zemun from XVIII century. The oldest book in the collection is from 1721 and belonged to the Catholic Church. Among the books resulted from practice of other religions, are kept two evidence books belonged to the Municipality of Jews (Sefard and Ashkenaz) from period of 1865–1909.
The books are informational on population of Belgrade, natality and mortality, social background, eminent persons: rulers, politicians, artists and tradesmen...
