Historical Archives of Belgrade's exhibition Decorations from the Legacies of the Historical Archives of Belgrade was opened on 27 April 2016 in Historical Archives of Zrenjanin. The exhibition consists of exhibition boards containing basic data on phaleristics, photographs, charters and diplomas, short biographies of the decorated legators and photographs of decoration ceremonies.
This exhibition is exclusive for it represents the most extravagant and the most precious Yugoslav decorations from post war period – Order of the Freedom, Order of Yugoslav Star and Order of War Flag.
Author of the exhibition is Mirjana Obradovic, archival councilor.

The exhibition will be opened until 27 May 2016.

Within a three day event organized as a part of the project Escalating into Holocaust, exhibition October 1941 was opened in the gallery of the Historical Archives of Belgrade on April 20th 2016, in the presence of numerous prominent visitors.

The authors of the exhibition are Milovan Pisarri PhD and Nikola Radic Lucati from the NGO Center for Holocaust Research and Education (CHRE). After welcoming speeches of the director of the Archives Dragan Gacic MA and German ambassador to Serbia H.E. Axel Dittmann, Israeli ambassador to Serbia H.E. Yossef Levi opened the exhibition.

The exhibition can be seen in the Gallery of the Historical Archives of Belgrade from Tuesday until Saturday in the period from 10:00-17:00.

Dr Ioanid Radu, director of the International Archival Programs of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum with his associates visited Historical Archives of Belgrade on 11th April 2016.

Representatives of the both sides shared their methodological and technological experiences and professional challenges they are encountering every day. Special attention was paid to the efficiency of the preservation and research of the documents regarding persecutions and sufferings of the Jews and other Nazi victims in the Second World War.

The Cooperation Contract was signed with a goal to advance already existing cooperation.

Three day event within the project Escalating into Holocaust - from Execution Squads to the Gas Van of Sajmiste: Two Defining Phases of the Holocaust in Serbia will be held in Belgrade from 20th to 22nd April 2016. The project is financed by the EACEA of European Commission, and the main applicant is Historical Archives of Belgrade. The project was supported also by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia and Belgrade City Administration – Secretariat for Culture.

Press conference presenting the project will be held on April 20th in the Historical Archives of Belgrade. The project will be presented by Dragan Gačić MA, director of the Archives, Vladan Vukosavljević, city secretary for culture, Nevena Bajalica, project manager and other representatives of the partnering organizations. Exhibition "October 1941" will be opened in the Gallery of the Archives on the same day. Authors of the exhibition are Milovan Pisarri PhD and Nikola Radic Lucati from the Center for Research and Education about Holocaust. The exhibition will be opened by Mr. Yossef Levi, Israeli ambassador to Serbia.

On April 21st, second day of the event, International conference will be held in the Palace of Serbia regarding two themes "Holocaust in the Serbia and a wider plan to destroy European Jews" and "Holocaust and Porajmos in the regional culture of remembrance ".

On April 23rd, third day of the event, Historical Archives of Belgrade will host two workshops. Theme of a workshop organized by NIOD, Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies from Amsterdam will be "Archives of the Holocaust victims". Workshop "Graphic novel in learning about Holocaust" will be organized by an NGO from Sweden, Teraforming.

Main goal of the project "Escalating into Holocaust - from Execution Squads to the Gas Van of Sajmiste: Two Defining Phases of the Holocaust in Serbia" is to make available to the widest public so far unprocessed archival material relating to the victims of camp Sajmiste (Judenlager Semlin) throughout on line database. Results of the project will be presented on six events in Serbia, Sweden and the Netherlands, throughout exhibition, presentations and public debates, as well as a publication consisting of articles written by prominent international and domestic experts.

Historical Archives of Belgrade organized a special party on 8th April 2016 to celebrate 70 years since Archives' establishment and activities. Acknowledgements were awarded to numerous institutions for long and successful cooperation, to former directors of the Archives as well as to retired archivists who spent their whole professional life in our institution.

Awards were given by the president of the Managing Board of the Historical Archives of Belgrade, Dragomir Acovic and by Archives' director Dragan Gacic MA.

The party was attended by the representatives of the Secretariat for Culture of the City of Belgrade, representatives of other archives, museums, libraries, Belgrade University, public institutions and media, who have had successful cooperation with the Archives.

Director of the Archives of Serbia Miroslav Perisic PhD donated a painting by Serbian artist Dragan Kunic to the Historical Archives of Belgrade.
